It’s also about courage and reverence - appreciating the beauty and the spiritual side of life. So you could say the Lung and Large Intestine Meridians are about letting go, like the trees let go of their leaves in autumn, to create compost for the next spring and move forward to the next cycle.Įmotionally the Lung Meridian is about grief - feeling it when appropriate and processing and letting go. The Large Intestine gets rid of what we no longer need, physically and mentally/emotionally. Energetically they receive Chi or energy and connect us spiritually. Embrace the opportunity to shed old unwanted layers and make a conscious choice to begin again. Just as nature enters a cycle of renewal, growth and expansion in springso does the energy within us. You will take home with you a seasonal handout with an adaptable/variable yin yoga sequence for Autumn that you can use to help plan classes, as well as seasonal tips for embracing Autumn / the Metal Element in your yoga practice and daily life. Please bring a notebook and pen – this workshop is a mix of practice and theory to inspire your practice and refine your teaching skills. We will also explore ways of adapting and modifying the postures to account for skeletal variations and differences in body type as well as ways of supporting injuries while practicing. We will engage in a Yin Yoga sequence for balancing the metal element during Autumn (including focusing on the Lungs and Large Intestine meridians). We will spend 3 hours exploring the application of Yin Yoga and Mindfulness as a way of nourishing and supporting the physical and energetic bodies, as well as the mind, during the season of Autumn. Yin yoga is such a perfect practice for autumn Because of the call for tuning inward and working with what you have, the slowness and steadiness of a yin practice is well aligned to this season.
